On Wednesday 8 November 2017, 330 guests attended a celebratory dinner hosted by the Groote Schuur Hospital Facility Board commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the 1st heart transplant.

Upon arrival, guests were shuttled to the Heart of Cape Town Museum for a personal tour.

This was followed by a sumptuous dinner and entertainment.

The attendance and reflections of Ms Tollie Lambrechts and Dene Friedmann, two of the theatre staff who were present on the historic night of 3 December 1967, made the evening extra special.

The evening has already resulted in a generous donation of a specialised hospital bed and funding.
