The Western Cape Department of Health completed 498 life changing, free operations in honor of Mandela day

Groote Schuur Hospital carried out over 40 of these operations.

In addition there were numerous activities for the Mandela Day celebrations.

The Springboks visited newborns in the Maternity – Neonatal unit. Staff from the Main Theater Complex hosted a lunch-time party for the children admitted as in patients to the G4 Pediatrics ward at Groote Schuur Hospital.  Staff from critical care donated sanitary and household goods to the Alcardo Andrews Foundation; Maternity staff initiated a Panty and Pad drive as part of the O&G Mandela Day activities.
