A recent fundraising drive by students from the UCT student-led Surgical Society resulted in the donation of a dialysis machine to Groote Schuur Hospital.

Dr Maajid Khan, a 1970 UCT medical graduate who now lives in New Zealand, led the donation from a foundation with which he is involved, and further committed to supporting the maintenance of the machine going forward.

This generous donation will have life-saving consequences for many of the hospital’s patients who are in dire need of dialysis .
